LEARNING LINKS

Genworth has partnered with Learning Links since 2006, contributing time and money to assist children with learning difficulties at Crown Street Public School in Sydney.

Learning Links is an Australian not-for-profit organisation assisting children who have difficulty learning. Learning Links works with families to provide a complete service for children in need, bringing together teachers, psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and family counselors to work towards each child's goals.

Counting For Life

Following on from the success of our Reading for Life programs, in August 2006 we launched the trial for the Genworth Financial Counting for Life Program. Initiated by Genworth Financial to assist at-risk children between Year 2 and 4 develop their numeracy skills, the program deals directly with number sense, measurement and data sense and spatial sense. Through interactive games and structured learning, students develop their maths skills and improve their numeracy during the twelve-week program.

The trial was a resounding success with mentors developing strong friendships with their students and teachers reporting real improvements in class work. The program was continued in 2007 and 2008, with Genworth staff once again providing the enthusiasm and dedication required for the program’s success.

Genworth participant quote: " The feedback received by both the school principal and Austin’s mother was very encouraging and showed how big an impact we made in such a short time. I feel honoured to have been a part of the great work Genworth did with Learning Links.”
